West Branch Quarterback Hierseman Will Play at Central College

One of the best quarterbacks in Class 1A has found his future home.
West Branch all-state quarterback Gavin Hierseman announced he would play college football at Central College with a post on social media on Thursday.
“Extremely excited to announce that I will be attending Central College to play football,” Hierseman wrote on Twitter.
In two seasons leading the West Branch offense Hierseman emerged as one of the most productive quarterbacks in the state.
Hierseman accounted for 3,600 total yards of offense and 43 touchdowns in 18 career games while posting a 15-3 record as a starting quarterback.
As a junior Hierseman passed for 1,550 yards and 19 touchdowns and also rushed for 447 yards and eight touchdowns while leading West Branch to a 10-1 record and a spot in the Class 1A quarterfinals.
Last season Hierseman was a third-team all-state selection after throwing for 1,422 yards and 11 touchdowns in seven games helping West Branch to a 5-3 record.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Hierseman also rushed for 181 yards and five touchdowns last season and finished his career with 30 touchdown passes and just eight interceptions.
A three-sport standout, Hierseman is a multi-year starter in both basketball and baseball.
Hierseman is averaging 9.1 points and shooting 41 percent from 3-point range for the Class 2A fifth-ranked West Branch basketball team.
A member of NCAA Division III and the American Rivers Conference, Central College went 10-2 and advanced to the second round of the Division III championships in 2019.
