City High roared out to a halftime lead and never let up in an impressive 68-48 win over Class 4A ninth-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier on Friday in a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in Iowa City.

Class 5A eighth-ranked City High improved to 5-2 with the win and moved to 3-1 in MVC play while Xavier had a four-game winning streak snapped with the loss and dropped to 6-4 on the season and 3-3 in conference contests.

Eviyon Richardson led a trio of City High players in double figures with a game-high 23 points while Kelsey Joens had 21 and Ella Cook 11 for the Little Hawks.

Aree Beckmann and Lexi Turner each had 13 points to pace Xavier.
