A key part of an explosive West High offense this season announced his plans for the future on Thursday.
West High senior running back Trey King announced he would continue his career at Iowa Western Community College with a post on social media.
“Excited to announce that I’ll be continuing my athletic career at Iowa Western,” King wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to all of the coaches/teammates that helped me along the way.”
King had a major impact in his only season at West High rushing for a team-high 556 yards while helping the Trojans to a 6-1 record.
The 5-foot-10, 180-pound King rushed for at least 50 yards in all seven games and had a career-high 123 on the ground in a week-two win over City High.
King averaged 5.6 yards per carry and ran for five touchdowns, scoring rushing touchdowns in each of the Trojans’ final three games.
A versatile offensive weapon, King was also a threat in the West High passing game ranking third of the team in receiving yards.
King caught 14 passes for 258 yards and a touchdown.
