The Your Prep Sports Alumni Report is a weekly segment that recognizes the accomplishments of graduates from YPS area schools that are continuing their careers as student athletes at the collegiate level.
Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts as well as honoring those athletes that continue to excel at the next level.
Tyler Linderbaum
Solon graduate and current Iowa sophomore center Tyler Linderbaum was named a second-team selection on the Walter Camp All-America Team on Thursday.
Linderbaum earned second-team All-America recognition on three teams (Walter Camp, Football Writers Association of America and Associated Press) and was a first-team All-America pick by The Athletic and Pro Football Focus.
Linderbaum started every game at center for the Hawkeyes for the second consecutive season this fall.
Ashley Joens
City High graduate and current Iowa State junior Ashley Joens was named to the Wooden Award Midseason top 25 on Wednesday.
Jones ranks fifth nationally in scoring, averaging a Big-12 leading 25.2 points per game to go with 8.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
The players on the Midseason top 25 list are considered strong candidates for the 2021 John R. Wooden Award Women’s Player of the Year.
Tatum Koenig
A West Branch graduate and junior point guard at Bradley, Koenig has scored in double figures in two of the past four games helping the Braves go 3-1 to start 2021.
Koenig leads Bradley in minutes played this season at 33.1 per game after playing all 40 in a win over Southern Illinois on Saturday and is averaging 6.9 points, a team-high 3.4 assists and 3 rebounds per game
Bradley is 7-4 on the season and 3-1 in Missouri Valley Conference play.
Jacob Dykes
The former City High state champion secured a season-opening dual win for Southwest Minnesota State with a victory in the final match of the night.
A sophomore 285-pounder, Dykes earned a 4-1 decision to help the Mustangs to an 18-16 win over Minnesota State Moorhead in the opener for both teams.
