For the second consecutive season Cedar Rapids Xavier made the plays late to edge West High in a thriller.

After squeaking out a 50-48 win over the Trojans in Iowa City last season Cedar Rapids Xavier edged Class 5A third-ranked West High 50-49 on Tuesday in Cedar Rapids.

The loss was the second straight single digit setback for West High which dropped to 2-2 on the season while Xavier improved to 3-3.

Audrey Koch had a game-high 20 points and six rebounds to lead West High while Meena Tate added 10 points, three assists and two steals.

Jenna Saunders and Lucy Wolf each chipped in with six points for the Trojans.

Lexi Turner led three Xavier players in double figures with 13 points while Lexi Meier and Brielle Bastian each had 10 points for the Saints.
