Liberty High Senior Roman Commits to Aurora University

One of the pillars of the Liberty High volleyball program has settled on her future plans.
Senior middle hitter Lauren Roman announced her commitment to Division III Aurora University with a post on social media.
“So excited to announce my commitment to Aurora University to further my academic and athletic career,” Roman wrote on Twitter.
A stalwart in the Liberty High lineup for the past four seasons Roman played a key role in the Lightning’s rapid ascent toward the top of Class 5A.
The 6-foot-1 Roman led Liberty High is blocks each of the past two seasons while helping the Lightning to a 58-6 record and back-to-back trips to the 5A state tournament during that span.
Roman had a career-high 65 blocks as a junior in 2019 as Liberty High went 34-3 and made its first state tournament appearance.
Last fall Roman had 44 kills and 55 blocks as Liberty High went 24-3 and reached the 5A title match.
Roman had 12 blocks in three state tournament matches as Liberty High fell to Ankeny in the 5A championship.
An honorable mention all-Mississippi Division selection this season, Roman finished her career with 289 kills and 181 blocks.
Roman will join an Aurora University program that has reached the Division III national tournament each of the past two seasons.
Located in Aurora, Illinois, Aurora University is a member of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and was 23-11 in 2019 after winning 26 matches and reaching the national quarterfinals in 2018.
