Liberty High used a 26-point fourth quarter to overcome a late nine-point deficit on its way to a 68-62 win over Cedar Rapids Prairie in the season opener for both teams on Friday in North Liberty.
Liberty High trailed 51-42 entering the final quarter but outscored the Hawks 26-11 over the final eight minutes.
Ira Hazeltine led three Liberty High players in double figures with 16 points while Kelby Telander had 15 and Ethan O’Donnell added 14.
Grayson Tyler had eight and Max Beckman added seven for the Lightning.
Jake Walter had a game-high 29 for Cedar Rapids Prairie.
