A big offensive night for Sasha Koenig led to a big win for top-ranked West Branch and a huge career moment for the Bears’ senior point guard.
Koenig poured in a game-high 26 points on Friday to eclipse the 1,000-point mark for her career as Class 2A top-ranked West Branch rolled to a 61-29 win over Northeast in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional contest in West Branch.
West Branch improved to 2-0 with the win and 2-0 in RVC play while Northeast dropped to 1-2 and 1-2 in conference games.
Koenig had six steals, five rebound and four assists to go with her historic scoring output.
West Branch led 24-6 after one quarter and 44-16 at the half.
Delaynie Luneckas had 13 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four blocks while Taya Young and Lexie Peak each added eight points.
Young had four assists, four steals and four rebounds while Peak had two assists and two steals.
