West Branch remained number one and Solon made its season debut in the most recent girls basketball rankings released Thursday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

Preseason top-ranked West Branch (1-0) opened the season with a 70-33 win over Durant on Tuesday and held its spot atop the Class 2A rankings in front of Maquoketa Valley (1-0) and South Central Calhoun (3-0).

Solon (1-1) opened the season with a win over fifth-ranked Center Point-Urbana before falling to 4A No. 5 Central DeWitt and jumped into the Class 3A rankings at No. 14.

Clear Creek Amana, West High and City High have yet to play this season but all held their spots from the preseason rankings.

West High is fifth and City High is eighth in the 4A rankings while Clear Creek Amana remained No. 14 in Class 4A.
