Volleyball Roundup: Liberty High Locks up Divisional Title With Road Win at No. 3 Cedar Falls

Liberty High locked up the Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division title on Thursday and the Lightning did it in about the most impressive way possible.
Class 5A sixth-ranked Liberty bounced back from an opening set loss to down third-ranked and defending 5A state champion Cedar Falls 21-25, 25-21, 25-23, 30-28 in a battle of MVC unbeatens in Cedar Falls.
Liberty High improved to 19-2 on the season and 6-0 in Mississippi Division play with the win while Cedar Falls dropped to 25-5.
Cassidy Hartman had a team-high 25 kills to lead a trio of Liberty High players in double figures.
Shelby Kimm added 13 digs while Kennedy Daugherty added 10 kills and a pair of blocks for the Lightning.
Sam Harvey finished with five kills and three blocks while Lilah VanScoyoc had four kills.
Mariah Rollins had 27 assists and Hailey Hested had 26 assists while Addie Schmierer had a team-high 11 digs and Gabbie Schroeder added 10 digs and three ace serves.
Liberty High will close out the regular season by hosting Class 4A top-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier on Saturday at 1 p.m.
