Volleyball Roundup: Liberty High Defeats Four Ranked Teams to Win CR Prairie Tournament

Liberty High went 5-0 with four wins over ranked opponents to win the Cedar Rapids Prairie Tournament on Saturday in Cedar Rapids.
Class 5A sixth-ranked Liberty High improved to 15-2 on the season with the unbeaten performance on Saturday and stretched its winning streak to seven straight.
Liberty High defeated Class 2A No. 14 West Branch (21-11, 21-16), 2A second-ranked Wilton (21-14, 25-23, 15-4), 4A No. 5 Western Dubuque (19-21, 21-13, 15-9) and Class 5A No. 12 Cedar Rapids Prairie (21-7, 21-12) on its way to the title.
The Lightning also added a 21-19, 21-9 win over Johnston.
Cassidy Hartman led Liberty High with 41 kills in the five wins while Shelby Kimm had 28 kills and Sam Harvey had 25.
Kennedy Daughety added 15 kills.
Addie Schmierer led Liberty High with 34 digs while Hartman had 30 and Gabbie Schroeder and Hailey Hested each had 24.
Hested had 72 assists and Mariah Rollins had 35 assists while Harvey had seven ace serves, Schroeder had six and Hested, Kimm and Hartman all had four aces.
