Clippers Keep Cruising With Win Over Oskaloosa

With the postseason waiting just a few weeks away Clear Creek Amana continues to pick up steam at the perfect time.
Clear Creek Amana racked up nearly 500 yards of offense for the second consecutive game pushing its winning streak to three with a 37-7 homecoming win over Oskaloosa (1-5) in a Class 3A, District 6 tilt in Tiffin.
The Clippers improved to 4-2 on the season and 3-1 in District 6 play with its third straight lopsided win after falling to top-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier on September.
Clear Creek Amana will close out the regular season on Friday by hosting Grinnell (4-2, 3-1).
On Friday the Clippers continued to look like a team that will be a tough out in the postseason.
Clear Creek Amana racked up 474 yards of total offense against the Indians, including a season-high 312 on the ground, and led 23-0 at the half.
Tailback Alex Figueroa continued a stellar senior season rushing for a career-high 223 yards on 14 carries as the Clippers averaged 9.8 yards per carry as a team.
Figueroa scored three touchdowns, bringing his season total to nine, including an 85-yard scoring run in the third quarter that put the Clippers up 30-0.
Senior quarterback Ryan Navara was sharp completing 11-of-14 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns.
Navara tossed a 60-yard touchdown to Brock Reade on a flea-flicker to open the scoring and added a 30-yard scoring strike to Tom Johnson in the second quarter.
Reade led Clear Creek Amana with three receptions for 76 yards while Johnson caught three passes for 44 yards and Harrison Rosenberg had three grabs for 36 yards.
Clear Creek Amana limited Oskaloosa to 231 total yards and just 99 rushing yards on 32 carries.
Anthony Hennes and Kalvin Mendieta each had a sack for the Clippers while senior Riley Wolfe had a tackle for loss and recovered a fumble.
