Volleyball Roundup: Liberty High Returns to Action With Four Wins at Home Tournament

In its first action in more than three weeks Class 5A seventh-ranked Liberty High showed little signs of rust.
Liberty High won four matches without dropping a set on Saturday at its own home tournament in North Liberty.
Playing for the first time since a loss at top-ranked West Des Moines Dowling on September 3 Liberty High earned wins over Solon (21-13, 21-15), West High (21-14, 21-8), Center Point-Urbana (21-10, 21-14) and Class 4A No. 11 Clinton (21-11, 21-5).
Cassidy Hartman led three Liberty High players with double digit kills on Saturday racking up 33 kills in four matches.
Shelby Kimm had 14 kills and Sam Harvey had 12 kills while Lauren Roman added eight and Lilah VanScoyoc and Chante Hardaway each had seven.
Addie Schmierer led the Lightning with 18 digs while Hailey Hested had 16 and Hartman had 15 and Kimm and Hardaway each had five blocks.
Hested had 45 assists, Mariah Rollins had 18 assists and Schmierer had five ace serves.
