Cross Country Roundup: Solon Wins Anamosa Invitational

Solon had four runners finish in the top eight and ran away with the team title on Saturday morning at the 45th annual Anamosa Cross Country Invitational at Anamosa Middle School.
Senior Kiersten Conway led four Spartans that finished in the top eight with a fourth-place finish as Class 3A seventh-ranked Solon won the team title with 41 points.
The Spartans finished 28 points in front of runner-up 3A No. 14 Davenport Assumption while 1A fourth-ranked South Winneshiek was third with 94 points and 2A No. 14 Tipton was fourth with 96.
Conway placed fourth in a time of 20:29.1 and was joined in the top eight by junior Emma Bock, sophomore Mary Fiala and freshman Gracie Federspeil.
Bock was sixth in a time of 20:41.3, Fiala was seventh in 20:42.6 just in front of Federspiel who placed eighth in a time of 20:42.9.
Freshman Anna Quillin was 16th for Solin in 21:08.8 and junior Kaia Holtkamp was 18th in 21:11.9.
South Winneshiek sophomore Billie Wagner won the individual title in 19:33.7.
