Cross Country Roundup: Barker Cruises to Title at Eastern Iowa Classic

Another race, another individual title for Brandon Barker.
The Clear Creek Amana senior standout won his third consecutive race on Thursday pulling away from the field and cruising to the individual crown at the Eastern Iowa Classic at the Seminole Valley Cross Country Course in Cedar Rapids.
The winning time of 16:33.48 for Barker was nearly 20 seconds faster than Cedar Rapids Washington senior Ethan Stout who was second in 16:41.65.
It was the third straight title for Barker who previous won races at the Benton Community and Cascade Invitationals.
The individual title from Barker and a fourth-place finish from junior Gavin Zillyette helped Clear Creek Amana to a runner-up team finish.
Host Cedar Rapids Kennedy put four runners in the top 10 and won the team title with 37 points while Clear Creek Amana was second with 52.
Muscatine was third with 72 followed by Cedar Rapids Washington with 86, Cedar Rapids Xavier with 141 and Regina with 171.
Zilleytte joined Barker in the top five with his fourth-place finish in a time of 17:15.91 and freshman Noah Yost was 11th in 17:54.48 for the Clippers.
Dan Maley led Regina placing 21st in a time of 18:37.
