The City High girls cross country team opened the season by winning the Hillcrest Academy Early Bird Meet on Tuesday in Kalona.

City High had the first seven finishers and won the meet with 15 points easily outdistancing runner-up Washington and third-place Cedar Rapids Jefferson.

Rowan Boulter won the individual title in 20:23.1 and was followed by teammates Lilly Reynolds and Iris Wedemeyer in the top three.

Reynolds was runner-up in 20:51.86 and Wedemeyer was third in a time of 21:32.39.

City High Boys Runner-Up

The City High boys finished runner-up at the season-opening Hillcrest Academy Early Bird Meet on Tuesday.

Cedar Rapids Jefferson won the team title with 19 points while City High was second with 52 and Washington was third with 83.

Juma Amisi placed sixth in 19:28.54 to lead City High while Jonas Ackerman was ninth in 19:39 and Matt Schaeckenbach was 12^th in 19:58.64.
