Boys Cross Country Roundup: CCA Senior Barker Wins Individual Title at Anamosa Meet

One Meet, one win for Clear Creek Amana senior Brandon Barker.
Barker pulled away from the field over the final half of the race to claim the individual title at the season-opening Anamosa Cross Country meet on Saturday morning at Anamosa Middle School.
The winning time of 16:32.5 by Barker was more than 20 seconds faster than runner up Chandler Hershberger of Mid-Prairie who finished in 16:53.4.
Junior Gavin Zillyette added a 10th place finish as Clear Creek Amana placed fourth at the seven-team meet with 71 points.
Mid-Prairie put three runners in the top five and won the team title with 43 points while Muscatine was second with 58 and Solon was third with 62.
Solon had a pair of top-10 finishers led by junior Gabe Hinman who was fifth in a time of 17:00.9.
Senior Ben DeValk added an eighth-place finish for the Spartans while senior Tyler Bilskie was 11th and freshman Brick Kabela placed 14th.
