Softball Roundup: Big First Inning Leads Washington Past Clear Creek Amana

Washington scored three runs in the first inning and held on for a 3-1 win over Clear Creek Amana in a Class 4A, Region 6 semifinal on Saturday in Oxford.
Kellie Dallmeyer had a two-run single in the three-run first inning as Washington advanced to the Region 6 title game with its second straight postseason win.
Washington (10-17) will face second-ranked West Delaware (20-4) in the regional title game on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Manchester.
Clear Creek Amana closed the season 14-10 with the loss.
Washington did nearly all of its damage in the opening inning, collecting three of its five hits and scoring all of its runs in the opening frame.
That was enough as Cara Linnenkamp held Clear Creek Amana to one run on seven hits while striking out five in the complete game win.
Clear Creek Amana had the tying run on base in the seventh with Gabrielle Bedford walked and Grace Bedford single but Linnenkamp escaped the jam with a strikeout and a ground out to end the game.
Grace Bedford went 2-for-3 and scored a run for Clear Creek Amana while Allie Rummelhart had two hits and drove in a run and Avery Alan added two hits.
Bailey Olerich had a hit for the Clippers.
Raina Henze took the loss for Clear Creek Amana allowing three runs on five hits while striking out four and walking two in seven innings.
