Another week, another Your Prep Sports area team making its season debut in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union softball rankings.

For the first time this season Liberty High climbed into the IGHSAU rankings, coming in at No. 14 in the Class 5A rankings released on Thursday.

It is the first time in the 5A rankings in program history for the Lightning which moved to 9-7 on the season with a doubleheader split with Linn-Mar on Wednesday and owns a win over fourth-ranked City High (12-2) which held its spot in the 5A rankings for the second week in a row.

Two other area teams climbed in the rankings this week as Clear Creek Amana (9-5) moved up one spot to No. 14 in Class 4A and Solon (14-6) jumped a spot to No. 13 in Class 3A.
