Baseball Roundup: City High Offense Heats up in Sweep of Waterloo East

City High kicked its offense into high gear and cruised to a sweep of Waterloo East on Friday afternoon in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division doubleheader in Waterloo.
The Little Hawks won the opener 7-2 and took the nightcap 21-2 to improve to 7-5 on the season and 6-2 in Mississippi Division action.
Waterloo East dropped to 1-11 and 1-9 in Mississippi Division play.
Egan Smith earned the win in the opener allowing two unearned runs on four hits while striking out six in a complete game.
Gable Mitchell went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI to lead an eight-hit City High attack.
Garrett Bormann had a hit, drove in a run and scored three times while Noah Kabat doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice.
Reese Hayden had a hit and scored a run for City High.
City High took control of game two early with an eight-run first inning that featured RBI singles by Jacob Means, Hayden and Gable Mitchell and an RBI double by Cedric Dunnwald.
The Little Hawks got hits from 11 different players while pounding 16 hits in the five-inning win in game two.
Means led the way going 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI while Seaton, Mitchell and Kolbe Schnoebelen all had two hits.
Mitchell doubled and drove in three runs, while Seaton had an RBI and Schnoebelen scored two runs.
Ben Kueter and Wolfgang Fullenkamp each had a hit and drove in two runs while Jack Carrell doubled and drove in a run.
Bormann scored three runs and Kueter scored twice.
Carter Seaton earned the win in game two allowing two runs on three hits while striking out three in three innings.
