Baseball Roundup: Rickertson Tosses One-Hitter as Solon Sweeps Marion
Solon bounced back from a pair of losses to end last week with a sweep of Marion on Monday in a WAMAC East Division doubleheader in Marion.
The Spartans won the opener 9-1 and scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to complete the sweep with a 9-7 win in the nightcap.
Solon improved to 7-4 on the season with the sweep while Marion dropped to 1-7.
Brayden Rickertson struck out 10 in a complete game one-hitter in the opener.
The lone hit allowed by Rickertson was a double by Brady Johnson to lead off the fourth inning as the junior right-hander walked five and allowed just one unearned run.
Jackson Ryan, Brett White and Blake Timmons all had two hits to lead Solon.
Timmons, White and Cole Arduser all drove in two runs while Timmons, Ryan and Carson Shive all scored twice.
Lucas Walker fanned 12 in 5 2/3 innings in game two, allowing seven runs, two earned, on four whiles while walking four.
Jacob Smith worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.
Brady Jeworrek went 3-for-4 and scored three runs to lead the Spartans while Cael O’Neill was 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.
Carson Shive had two hits, drove in two runs and scored a run while Cole Arduser and Nolan Pattison each had a hit and drove in two runs.

City High Splits With Dubuque Senior
City High split a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division doubleheader with Dubuque Senior on Monday in Dubuque.
Dubuque Senior won the opener 8-2 before City High rallied to win game two 14-4 in five innings.
City High moved to 6-4 on the season while Dubuque Senior dropped to 4-4.
Reese Hayden and Carter Seaton each had two hits to pace City High in the opener.
Joaquin Sanders had a hit and drove in a run while Seaton and Gable Mitchell each scored runs.
Garrett Bormann, Kolbe Schnoebelen and Joey Bouska all added hits for the Little Hawks.
City High overcame an early 3-1 deficit with seven runs in the second inning of game two.
Bormann had two hits, drove in two runs and scored three runs to lead the Little Hawks in game two.
Hayden earned the win allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits while striking out five in a five-inning complete game and also had a hit and drove in two runs.
Sanders drove in two runs and scored twice while Seaton and Mitchell each had a hit and scored two runs.

West High Drops Two at No. 8 Dubuque Hempstead
Class 4A eighth-ranked Dubuque Hempstead swept West High in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division doubleheader in Dubuque on Monday winning the opener 2-1 and taking the nightcap 5-2.
West High dropped to 3-5 while Dubuque Hempstead improved to 6-0 on the season with the sweep.
Ben Vander Leest took the loss in the opener allowing two runs on 11 hits while striking out one and walking one.
Vander Leest also had a double to account for one of the Trojans’ three hits in the opener.
Will Hoeft had an RBI single and Brett Cherry singled while Marcus Morgan walked and scored a run for West High.
Luke Miller took the loss in the nightcap allowing three runs on three hits in 2/3 of an inning.
Morgan, Hoeft and Nathan Gudenkauf all had two hits for West High in game two.
Vander Leest had a double and drove in a run while Hoeft drove in a run and Morgan doubled and scored a run.
Ian McAreavy had a hit and scored a run.

Becker Tosses No-Hitter Against North Cedar
Chase Becker tossed a five-inning no-hitter as Regina downed North Cedar 10-0 in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup on Monday in Iowa City.
Becker also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple and two RBI as Regina improved to 6-4 on the season and 5-2 in RVC play.
North Cedar dropped to 2-3 on the season.
Eliezer De Los Santos had a double, a triple and drove in two runs and Kyle Schooley was 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI for Regina.
