Softball Roundup: Regina Bounces Back With Win Over Mid-Prairie

Regina bounced back from a loss to No. 12 Wilton with a 7-3 win over Mid-Prairie on Thursday in a River Valley Conference South Division contest in Iowa City.
The Regals improved to 4-4 on the season and 4-2 in RVC play with the win while Mid-Prairie dropped to 0-3.
Emma Nibaur had four hits and also earned the win in the circle for the Regals while Courtney Kessler and Alli Clark each had two hits.

Newly Ranked Solon Sweeps Central DeWitt
Solon continued its busy week with a doubleheader sweep of Central DeWitt on Thursday in Solon.
Class 3A No. 14 Solon won the opener 11-6 and took the nightcap 8-0 to improve to 9-3 on the season and 7-3 in WAMAC play while Central DeWitt dropped to 7-7 on the season and 7-3 in conference play.
Carly Ellison had three doubles in the opener while Hilary Wilson had two hits, drove in three runs and scored three runs.
Sarah Heick had two hits and two RBI and Kayla West had a hit and drove in four runs in the opener.
Jada Buffington and Ava Stebral each had a hit and drove in a run.
Kendall Jensen earned the win, allowing three runs on seven hits in three innings while West worked four innings allowing four hits and three runs.
Ellison tossed a four-hit shutout with two strikeouts and went 2-for-4 with a double in the nightcap.
Buffington went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and three RBI and Jadyn Jeter was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in game two.
Monet Barnhouse had two hits and drove in two runs and Camryn Keith had a hit and scored twice.

Third-ranked CR Kennedy Sweeps Liberty High
A night after splitting with City High in a top-five matchup third-ranked Cedar Rapids Kennedy swept Liberty High in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division doubleheader in Cedar Rapids.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy won the opener 5-2 and took the nightcap 10-0 in five innings while improving to 9-1 on the season and 4-0 in Valley Division play.
Liberty High dropped to 4-6 on the season and 3-5 in Valley Division contests.
Brylee Klosterman and Haley Napoli each had two hits in the opener while Addie Schmierer had a hit and scored a run and Miranda Jones had a hit and drove in two.
Kara Maiers took the loss allowing five runs, three earned, on three hits while striking out seven in six innings.
Klosterman had a pair of hits in the nightcap while Jones, Napoli, Kennedy Daughtery and Raquel Trolliet each had a hit.
