A couple of strong pitching performances and a combined 24 hits helped City High earn its first Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader sweep of the season on Thursday at Mercer Park.
City High swept Cedar Rapids Washington in a Mississippi Division doubleheader on Thursday winning the opener 12-1 in five innings and taking the nightcap 11-2.
The sweep improved City High to 5-3 on the season and 3-1 in MVC Mississippi Division play while Cedar Rapids Washington dropped to 0-6 and 0-4 in MVC play.
Cade Obermueller went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI in the opener while Gable Mitchell and Joey Bouska each had a pair of hits.
Carter Seaton, Joaquin Sanders and Kolbe Schnoebelen each had a hit and drove in a run.
Garrett Bormann earned the win, allowing one run on four hits while striking out six in a five-inning complete game.
Kyle Clark tossed six strong innings in the nightcap as City High completed the sweep.
Clark allowed two runs on four hits while striking out five.
Mitchell and Noah Kabat each had three hits to pace City High in the game two win.
Kabat had a double and scored three times while Mitchell scored twice and drove in a run.
Schnoebelen and Ben Cooper each had two hits and drove in two runs in game two while Sanders had a hit and scored two runs.

CR Kennedy Sweeps Liberty High in MVC Doubleheader
Cedar Rapids Kennedy used a couple of big innings late in the game to sweep Liberty High in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division doubleheader on Thursday in North Liberty.
The Cougars scored five runs in the seventh inning in a 10-8 win in the opener and put up seven in the sixth inning of a 9-7 win in the nightcap while improving to 6-0 on the season and 4-0 in MVC Valley Division play.
Liberty High dropped to 5-3 on the season and 2-2 in Valley Division contests with the losses.
Jacob Norris had three hits in the opener and Cody Schroeder and Nolan Frey each had two hits to pace Liberty High.
Frey drove in three runs while Norris and Alec Boldt each scored two runs.
Cayden Duhaime had a hit and drove in a run and Keian Secrist had a hit and two RBI.
Secrist allowed five runs, four earned, on two hits and struck out four in five innings.
Norris had two hits, scored two runs and drove in a run in the nightcap.
Tyler Dahm and TJ Kimm each had a hit and drove in two runs in game two while Boldt and Sam Funke each had hits and scored runs.
Jonah Warren got the start allowing seven runs, five earned, on eight hits while striking out three in 5 1/3 innings.
