Baseball Roundup: Fourth-ranked Davenport Assumption Too Much For Solon

Solon had a five-game winning streak snapped with an 11-1 loss to Class 3A fourth-ranked Davenport Assumption in a top-10 matchup in Davenport.
Assumption scored six runs in the third inning and put the game away via the run rule with a five-run fifth while improving to 6-2 on the season.
The loss was the first for Class 3A ninth-ranked Solon since the season opener at West Delaware and dropped the Spartans to 5-2 on the season.
Blake Timmons scored on an RBI single by Nolan Pattison to give Solon a 1-0 lead in the opening inning.
That would be the only offense Solon would must against Assumption pitching as Tyler Maro worked three innings striking out two and Zach Wemhoff struck out three in two hitless innings of relief.
Brayden Rickerson took the loss for Solon allowing six runs on two hits in 2 2/3 innings.
