Softball Roundup: City High Hammers Six Homers in Sweep of Waterloo West

A few months away from the field apparently did little to disrupt the power of the City High softball team.
Class 5A second-ranked City High hammered six home runs and scored 24 runs in a season-opening doubleheader sweep of Waterloo West on Tuesday in Iowa City.
City High scored 12 first-inning runs on its way to a three-inning 12-0 win in the opener and completed the sweep with a 12-5 win in the nightcap.
Keli Potter hit three home runs in the double header as four different Little Hawks homered.
Ayana Lindsey struck out six in two no-hit innings in game one while Maggie Glen worked a scoreless inning of relief.
Carey Koenig and Potter each homered and drove in three runs in the opener while Brooke Bormann double twice.
Lindsey and Sydney Fellows both double and drove in two runs in game one.
Potter homered twice and drove in two runs in the nightcap while Bormann and Ella Cook each added homers.
Cook went 2-for-3 with four RBI while Bormann drove in two runs.
Cook picked up the win allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out 11.
