Regina Graduate Brinkman Named Preseason All-American

The start of the 2020 college football season is still more than three months away.
Former Regina standout Jared Brinkman is already starting to pull in some preseason honors as the Northern Iowa lineman prepares for a stellar senior season.
Hero Sports named Brinkman to its 2020 FCS preseason All-American team last week tabbing the senior defensive tackle as a second-team selection.
After starting four games in his first two collegiate seasons Brinkman excelled in his first season as a full-time starter on the Panther defensive last fall earning second-team Missouri Valley Football Conference honors as a junior
Brinkman ranked fourth on the team in tackles with 83, tops among Panther defensive lineman, and was second on the team in both sacks and tackles for loss.
The 6-foot-2, 290-pound Brinkman had 14.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks and forced three fumbles while helping Northern Iowa to a 10-5 record and a spot in the FCS quarterfinals.
Brinkman was a three-sport standout as a prep at Regina earning all-state honors as a two-way lineman in football while winning state titles in wrestling and track and field.
As a senior Brinkman became the first two-time state wrestling champion in Regina history winning the Class 1A 285-pound title and added a state title in the shot put.
