One of the top juniors and best all-around players in the state has found her future home.
West High junior forward Audrey Koch announced her verbal commitment to Providence College on Tuesday with a post on social media.
Koch picked Providence over offers from Northern Iowa, Bradley, Loyola-Maramount, Valparaiso, Colgate, Eastern Illinois and others.
“I selected Providence because it is a great fit for me,” Koch said. “They have outstanding academics, a great staff and play in a really competitive basketball league.”
A reserve on the West High state championship team in 2018 Koch has led the Women of Troy in scoring each of the past two seasons.
Koch burst onto the scene as a sophomore when she earned third-team Class 5A all-state pick after averaging 16.3 points and seven rebounds per game.
The 5-foot-10 Koch averaged 18.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game last season as a junior on her way to being named Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division player of the year and second-team all-state.
“Providence is getting a versatile player who will continue to improve,” West High coach BJ Mayer said. “She is an outstanding player, great student, and a very good work ethic.”
A member of the West High tennis team, Koch won a state doubles title with older sister Emma, who plays basketball at Dartmouth, as a sophomore and finished runner-up last season with teammate Jessica Moonjely.
Providence went 13-19 last season and was 3-15 in the Big East.
