Senior Spotlight: Solon’s Peyton Sands
Senior Spotlight
Peyton Sands, Solon
Parents: Brent and Christy Sands
Siblings: Alexis Sands
Sports/Activities: I have participated in track and softball during all four years of high school as well as diving for the past two. I am also a member of the student council and National Honors Society.
How did you get involved in sports?: Athletics have always been a pretty big part of my life. At the age of two my parents had me start gymnastics where I competed for twelve years. During that time I enjoyed hanging out with my dad at his track practices, always messing around. Once I started high school I really was pulled toward my other school sports.
Favorite moment from athletics: My freshman track season I was able to compete with my sister, and we were in every shuttle hurdle race together. I will never forget when we went to state and made it to finals. After that last race was the happiest but also saddest moment, knowing I’ll never get to compete with my sister again. I wouldn’t change anything about it though.
A person that has influenced you: My family as a whole has had the greatest influence on me. My parents always have pushed me to be the best version of myself that I can be. My sister has also had a big impact on my life. She has always set a great example for me and is someone I strive to be like.
Hobbies: Outside of school I enjoy hanging out with my friends, working out, reading, and watching Netflix.
Favorite class: My favorite classes that I’ve taken so far have been Chemistry/Advanced Chemistry and Calculus.
Favorite food: My favorite food even though it’s more of a drink is smoothies.
Favorite book: In the fall during my English 12 class I had to read The Perks of Being a Wallflower and I really enjoyed reading that book.
Favorite movie: I don’t know if I could pick a favorite movie their are too many but I really enjoy movies that are based on a true story like “The Blindside” but also something a little more funny like “The Proposal”.
How are you spending time with school closed?: During this break I have spent a lot of time with my family of course but I also have been working out, doing school work, and attempting some new crafts.
Future plans: Next year I plan on attending South Dakota State University and will major in Nursing.
