Senior Spotlight: Clear Creek Amana’s Raina Henze
Senior Spotlight
Raina Henze, Clear Creek Amana
Parents: Chris and Jamie Henze
Siblings: Brooke and Marisa Henze
Pets: A cat named Lester
Sports/Activities: I am involved in softball, soccer, show choir, speech, school plays and musicals, National Honor Society, and student council at CCA.
How did you get involved in sports?: I started playing sports at a young age. My parents were both college athletes and my sisters both played as well. I followed my sisters and started playing softball as soon as I was old enough.
Favorite moment from athletics: Most of my favorite moments from my athletic career happen in the dugout or on trips with my team. While I am proud of my accomplishments like making All Conference teams the fun times I’ve had with my friends screaming in the dugout or singing on roadtrips with my teammates have always been some of my favorite moments. Cheering during games against Williamsburg and Solon are great moments from softball.
A person that has influenced you: Someone who has had a huge influence on me is my softball coach Sean Kimberley. As a coach he really impacted the way I view myself as a player and taught me so much about softball. He always pushes me above and beyond what I think I can achieve and improved my game so much. He encouraged me to talk to and helped reach out college coaches and was always such a positive influence on me.
Hobbies: Outside of school I play guitar, write music, paint, garden, and hang out with my cat, Lester.
Favorite class: Most of my favorite classes I’ve taken are science classes. Mr. Muhlenbruck is probably tired of having me in class, but my favorites have been chemistry I and chemistry II, physics, and glassworks.
Favorite food: My favorite food is fruit of any kind but especially mangos. My mom can’t seem to buy them fast enough because I eat them so quickly.
Favorite book: Right now I’m reading Catcher in the Rye and The Book Thief but my favorite book I’ve read is Lexicon by Max Barry.
Favorite movie: My favorite movie is either Scott Pilgrim vs the World or Blades of Glory.
How are you spending time with school closed?: While school has been closed I’ve been painting, learning to make jewelry, baking, and hanging out with my sisters and my cat.
Future plans: I plan on attending Northwest Missouri State University to major in Biochemistry and minor in Education.
