Over the course of his prep career Tyler Schrepfer helped turn Clear Creek Amana from a two-win team to a state semifinalist.
On Tuesday one of the main centerpieces of the Clear Creek Amana basketball resurgence made plans for his future.
Schrepfer announced his intentions to continue his career at Saint Ambrose University with a post on social media.
“I’m excited and honored to announce that I will be attending Saint Ambrose University to continue my academic and athletic careers,” Schrepfer wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to Coach Ray Shovlain and the rest of the SAU coaching staff for this amazing opportunity.”
A four-year varsity mainstay, Schrepfer was the center of one of the best rebuilding projects in the state that culminated with a third-place finish at the Class 3A state tournament this spring.
After leading the Clippers in scoring last season as a junior Schrepfer averaged 11.7 points and a team-high 2.9 assists per game this season.
The 5-foot-11 point guard shot 46 percent from the field, including 43 percent from 3-point range, while helping the Clippers to a 21-6 record and their first state tournament appearance since 1993.
A unanimous first-team all-WAMAC West Division selection this season Schrepfer was at his best at the state tournament.
Schrepfer averaged 13.7 points, five rebounds and 1.7 assists in three state tournament games on his way to being named to the Class 3A all-tournament team.
A member of the NAIA and Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, Saint Ambrose was 16-15 last season and 12-10 in conference play.
