Liberty High Junior Catcher Jones Commits to University of Northwestern-St. Paul

Just days after Liberty High pitcher Kara Maiers announced her plans to play softball at the next level here high school battery made settled on her future home.
Liberty High junior catcher Tiffany Jones made a verbal commitment to continue her softball career at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul Saturday with a post on social media.
“I am excited to announce that I have committed to University of Northwestern-St. Paul to continue my softball and academic career,” Jones wrote on Twitter. “I’d like to thank my family, friends and God for this amazing opportunity.”
A knee injury sidelined Jones for her freshman season but she emerged as one of the top offensive threats for the Lightning last spring.
Jones hit .328 and ranked third on the team with 30 RBI while helping Liberty High to a 22-win season and a spot in the Class 4A regional final.
The junior catcher drew 16 walks while striking just 14 times and posted an on-base percentage of .429.
NCAA Division III program located in St. Paul, Minnesota is a member of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
The Eagles were 27-17 in 2019 and advanced to the NCAA Regional tournament and were 4-12 this spring when the season was cancelled.
