Earlier this month Taylor Thein helped West Branch reach the state basketball tournament.
The future for Thein is on the softball diamond where she will hopefully close her prep softball career this summer.
As Thein waits for the softball season the West Branch shortstop made a more long term decision for the future on Wednesday announcing her commitment to play softball at McCook Community College on social media.
“I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to McCook Community College to further my academic and softball career,” Thein wrote on Twitter. “I am beyond thankful for all the support from my family, teammates and coaches. I couldn’t be more excited to be an Indian. Go Tribe.”
A four-year starter, Thein enters her senior season with 102 runs, 69 RBI ad 59 stolen bases in her career.
Thein hit .277 last season with 11 extra-base hits and tied for the team lead with 21 stolen bases while ranking second with 28 runs scored.
A career .323 hitter, Thein has 40 career extra-base hits including six home runs.
McCook Community College, located in McCook, Nebraska, was 10-12 this season when the National Junior College Athletic Association cancelled the remainder of the season.
The Indians were 29-33 in 2019.
