Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts as well as honoring those athletes that continue to excel at the next level.
Andrea Adam
Regina graduate Andrea Adam continued her stellar diving career at St. Ambrose University by winning a pair of national titles over the weekend at the NAIA Swimming and Division National Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Adam, a junior at St. Ambrose who competed as a prep for City High, won her third straight NAIA national championship in the 1-meter dive with a final score of 249.7 on Thursday evening.
On Friday Adam won her third title in the 3-meter diving competition with a score of 256.2 giving her six national titles in three seasons.
Dani Craig
Former West High standout Dani Craig, a senior point guard at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, was named to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team for the second straight season last week.
It was the third consecutive year Craig earned All-WIAC honors after being an honorable mention pick as a sophomore.
Craig led UWL in scoring (12.6), assists (2.3), field goals made (123) and three-point field goals (50) and was second on the team with 1.1 steals per game and fourth with 4.1 rebounds.
Ashley Joens
Former City High standout Ashley Joens became the first Iowa State sophomore to score 1,000 points on Saturday scoring the final three points for the Cyclones in a 56-55 upset of second-ranked Baylor.
Joens was named Big 12 player of the week for the sixth time this season after hitting the game-winning free throw with .9 seconds left in the win over the Bears on Saturday.
The sophomore set a single-season school record for made free throws on Saturday, connecting on her 187th of the season and had a game-high 15 points and eight rebounds against Baylor.
Bryce West
Solon graduate Bryce West, a sophomore at Northern Illinois, went 3-2 over the weekend on his way to a seventh-place finish at the MAC Wrestling Championship.
The seventh-place finish from West helped Northern Illinois to a third-place team finish.
West won a 9-7 decision over Christian Gannone of Bloomsburg in the 125-pound seventh-place match to move his season record to 23-11.
