West High Junior Koch Named MVC Valley Division Player of the Year

Last season was the breakthrough for Audrey Koch.
Koch went from a key reserve as a freshman to the leading scorer for West High a year ago.
This season Koch took her game to another level.
Koch averaged a career-high 18.5 points per game as a junior on her way to being named Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division player of the year when the league announced its postseason awards on Wednesday.
A unanimous first-team MVC division selection for the second straight season Koch gave West High a divisional player of the year for the third consecutive season joining past winners Logan Cook and Lauren Zacharias.
The 5-foot-10 Koch shot 49 percent from the field as a junior while leading West High in scoring and adding 5.8 rebounds per game.
Koch joined junior point guard Matayia Tellis as a unanimous first-team selection in the Valley Division.
Tellis averaged 10.4 points and led West High in rebounds (6.3), assists (2.6) and steals (2.2).
Senior Cora Saunders and freshman Meena Tate were both honorable mention selections for the Women of Troy.
Liberty High senior Sam McPherson was a second team selection in the Valley Division after leading the Lightning in scoring with 10.9 points per game and adding 2.7 rebounds per contest.
Freshman Keiko Ono-Fullard and junior Isabel Smith were both honorable mention honorees for Liberty High.
City High had six players earn MVC honors in the Mississippi Division after winning the division title going unbeaten in conference play.
Seniors Rose Nkumu and Aubrey Joens were each unanimously named to the Mississippi Division first team while senior Paige Rocca and freshman Kelsey Joens were each second-team picks.
Aubrey Joens record second among MVC players in scoring at 20.2 points per game and averaged 4.8 rebounds per game while leading City High to a fourth straight state tournament appearance.
Nkumu averaged 14.4 points and led City High with 5.7 assists and 4.1 steals per game.
Rocca averaged 11 points per game who shooting 42 percent from 3-point range while Kelsey Joens averaged 11 points and 4 rebounds per game.
Junior Ella Cook and sophomore Eviyon Richarson were both honorable mention picks for the Little Hawks.
