Girls Basketball Roundup: West High Falls to No. 7 Southeast Polk in Region 5 Title Game

West High came up one road upset short of a return to the state tournament.
Class 5A No. 14 West High fell to seventh-ranked Southeast Polk 60-48 on Tuesday in the Class 5A, Region 5 title game in Pleasant Hill.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for West High which advanced to the Region 5 title game with an overtime win at tenth-ranked West Des Moines Valley on Saturday.
The final ranked foe in the bracket proved too much for the Women of Troy to overcome.
Freshman Brooklin Dailey had a game-high 19 points to lead three Southeast Polk players in double figures as the defending 5A state runner-up Rams returned to the state tournament.
Grace Larkins had 15 points and eight rebounds and Jessica Stuart added 10 points as Southeast Polk improved to 19-4 on the season.
Rylie Kruse had seven points and seven assists for the Rams and Brooke Woodyard had six points and six rebounds.
Audrey Koch led West High with 17 points while Matayia Tellis added 14 and Jenna Saunders had 12 for the Women of Troy.
West High closed the season 14-10.
