Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts as well as honoring those athletes that continue to excel at the next level.
Mary Crompton
Former Regina all-stater set an Illinois State record for 3-pointers in a season by a freshman with a pair of triples in a 69-61 win over Northern Iowa on Friday.
Crompton finished with 11 points in the win over the Panthers and had 18 points on six 3-pointers in an 87-82 loss at Drake on Sunday.
The freshman guard has made a team-leading 59 3-pointers on the season breaking the previous record of 52 for a Redbird freshman.
Austin Miller
West High graduate and current senior relief pitcher at Mississippi struck out five of the six batters he faced in two perfect innings of relief in a 9-0 win over Xavier on Saturday.
Miller is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in six innings of relief this season, striking out seven and walking three.
The senior right-hander made an Ole Miss record 32 relief appearances last season posting a 5-3 record and 3.15 ERA in 54.1 innings.
Abby Smith
Solon graduate Abby Smith a freshman at the University of Dubuque was part of a pair of record-breaking performance last Saturday at the UW-Platteville Invitational.
Smith helped the University of Dubuque 4×200 and 4×400 relay teams set a new school records in first place finishes.
The 4×200 team won in a time of 1:45.01 and the 4×400 team set a school record of 3:58.82.
Izaya Ono-Fullard
West High graduate hit safely in all three games at the Tony Gwynn Legacy Tournament in San Diego helping Iowa go 1-2 over the weekend.
The senior second baseman was 3-for-5 in a 10-5 loss to San Diego on Sunday, stretching his current hitting streak to four games.
Ono-Fullard is hitting .300 with five RBI on the season for the Hawkeyes.
