Miller, Lukavsky Headline Area River Valley Conference All-Conference Selections

Regina and West Branch finished the season locked in a tie atop the River Valley Conference South Division standings.
Now both teams are reaping the rewards for their regular season performances.
Both Regina and West Branch had four players earn all-conference recognition and West Branch coach Jason Kern was named South Division coach of the year when the conference announced its postseason honors on Friday.
Regina’s Masen Miller and Ashton Cook and West Branch senior Tanner Lukavsky headlined the area honorees as selections to the conference’s 11-member Elite Team that honors the top players from both the North and South Divisions.
Miller was a unanimous elite team selection for the second year in a row after leading all RVC players in scoring, three-pointers and ranking second in assists.
The senior guard averaged 26.9 points, 6.1 rebound and 4.7 points per game while shooting 48 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3-point range.
Miller made 85 3-pointers and 93 free throws which were both tops among all RVC players.
Cook was a special mention on the elite team after averaging 16.8 points per game but missed the final 13 games of the season with an injury.
Lukavsky earned Elite Team honors for the first time after averaging 8.6 points and leading West Branch with 6 rebounds per game.
The senior shot 43 percent from the field and 34 percent from the 3-point line.
Regina junior Chase Becker, West Branch senior Matt Whaley and junior Simon Palmer were all named to the South Division squad.
Becker averaged 6.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while helping the Regals to a 15-4 conference mark.
Palmer averaged 10.3 points and 3 rebounds per game for West Branch while shooting 53 percent from the field.
Whaley averaged 8 points and shot 41 percent from 3-point range while leading the Bears in both assists (3.4) and steals (1.5).
Regina senior Josh Dutchik and West Branch senior Trey Eagle were both honorable mention picks.
Kern was honored as South Division coach of the year after leading the Bears to the South Division title and a 17-4 overall regular season record in his second season leading the program.
