Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts as well as honoring those athletes that continue to excel at the next level.
Dani Craig
A former West High standout and senior point guard at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse Craig averaged 23 points in two games last week leading the Eagles to a pair of wins.
Craig scored a career-high 28 points in a 76-61 win over UW-Stout on Wednesday and had 18 points, six rebounds and three assists in a 79-50 win over UW-Stevens Point on Saturday.
The 5-foot-8 Craig leads the Eagles with 12.3 points and 2.4 assists per game this season.
Rachael Saunders
West High graduate Rachael Saunders helped Creighton split a pair of Big East contests last week scoring 15 points and pulling down 17 rebounds in games against St. John’s and Seton Hall.
A sophomore guard, Saunders had 12 points and nine rebounds in a 77-70 loss to St. John’s on Friday and had three points and eight rebounds Sunday in a win over Seton Hall.
The 5-foot-9 Saunders is averaging 6.4 points and ranks second on the team with 5.2 rebounds per game for the Bluejays.
Sterling McIlravy
Former Solon standout and current Kirkwood Community College sophomore golfer Sterling McIlravy signed a letter of intent to continue his golf career at Ball State next fall.
McIlravy is the 20th ranked golfer in NJCAA Division II and had three top-five finishes in the fall while helping Kirkwood to a No. 2 national ranking.
Annie Peterson
West High graduate Annie Peterson capped an impressive four-year soccer career at Knox College last fall by being named first team all-conference and earning Midwest Conference defensive player of the year honors.
Led by Peterson Knox College allowed a total of four goals last season while winning its fourth consecutive Midwest Conference regular season title/
Peterson was also named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region third team.
