The Udell family will have a busy day at the state wrestling meet next Thursday.

Regina brothers Aidan and Rowan Udell each secured the first state meet appearances of their careers on Saturday with top-two finishes at the Class 1A, District 8 meet at Wilton.

Sophomore Aidan Udell upset tenth-ranked Cayden Miller of Midland in the 160-pound title match to earn his state tournament spot while older brother Rowan reached the state meet with a runner-up finish at 195 pounds.

The Udell brothers helped Regina finish seventh in the team standings with 31 points while second-ranked Lisbon crowned eight champs and rolled to the team title with 195.5 points.

Aidan Udell won a 14-2 major decision over Bellevue sophomore Jacob Waller in his first ever district match in the semifinals.

The younger Udell than capped his memorable day with a  10-5 with over Miller in the championship while improving to 31-7 on the season.

Rowan Udell pinned Alburnett senior Noah Neofotist in 49 seconds in the 195-pound semifinals before falling to top-ranked Cole Clark of Lisbon 11-3 in the title match.

The loss to Clark (42-2) was the first of the season for Udell (37-1) who earned a state spot with the runner-up finish.

Regina sophomore Sam Aitchison went 0-2 at 138 pounds while West Branch junior Morgan Hartz went 0-2 at 182 pounds.
