Girls Basketball Roundup: West High Upsets Class 4A Second-ranked Marion in Regular Season Finale

Over the past several seasons West High has earned a reputation as a team that always seems to play its best basketball at the end of the season.
The Women of Troy appear to be poised to build on that reputation this season.
West High scored 51 second-half points to race past Class 4A second-ranked Marion 76-61 on Saturday in a non-conference regular season finale for both teams in Marion.
The win was the second in as many days for West High which closed the regular season 12-9 and stopped a 20-game winning streak for Marion (20-1).
It was just the second regular season loss for the Indians in the past three seasons, both coming to West High.
Audrey Koch led West High with 28 points, eight rebounds and six steals while Cora Saunders added 17 points.
Freshman Meena Tate had 11 points and six assists for West High and Matayia Tellis added nine points and nine rebounds.
Kayba Laube had a game-high 38 points for Marion and Ella Van Weelden added 10 points.

Solon Falls to Vinton-Shellsburg in Regional Quarterfinal
Lucy Howes-Vonstein scored a game-high 28 points to lift Vinton-Shellsburg past Solon on Saturday in a Class 3A, Region 5 quarterfinal in Solon.
Vinton-Shellsburg improved to 12-10 with the win and advanced to the Region 5 semifinals where it will face No. 12 Monticello (17-5) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Monticello.
Solon closed it’s season at 9-13.
Kaia Holtkamp led Solon with 17 points while Ava Stebral had 14 and Makinley Levin added 10 for the Spartans.
Elly Holubar had nine points and Jenna LaDage five for Solon.
