Girls Basketball Roundup: Clear Creek Amana Stuns Fourth-Ranked CPU in Regular Season Finale

Prior to its regular season finale against Center Point-Urbana on Friday Clear Creek Amana had already posted one of the most successful seasons in recent program history.
Clear Creek Amana put the exclamation point on its impressive season on Friday with the signature win that had avoided Clippers during past years.
Karsyn Stratton poured in a game-high 28 points as Clear Creek Amana upset Class 4A fourth-ranked Center Point-Urbana 49-48 in Center Point.
The win was the first for Clear Creek Amana over the Stormin’ Pointers since 2009 and gave the Clippers a share of the WAMAC West Division title.
Clear Creek Amana improved to 17-4 on the season with the win and finished 15-5 in WAMAC play.
Center Point-Urbana dropped to 19-2 on the season with just its ninth regular season loss in the past five seasons.
The Stormin’ Pointers have been one of the premier programs in the state over the past half-decade posting a 111-14 record since the start of the 2015-2016 season.
Of those 14 losses eight have come to WAMAC rival Marion and two others have come at the state tournament.
On Friday Clear Creek Amana became the first WAMAC team other than Marion to defeat Center Point-Urbana since South Tama on December 19 of 2014.
Meagan Harvey had nine points and Calia Clubb added eight for the Clippers who enter the postseason having won 12 of their last 13 games.
Ryley Goebel had 16 points and Adrianna Katcher had 14 for Center Point-Urbana.

West High Too Much for Liberty High
West High used a 21-point second quarter to overcome a slow start in a 59-30 win over Liberty High on Friday in a Mississippi Valley Conference matchup in Iowa City.
Audrey Koch led four West High players in double figures with 13 points as the Women of Troy improved to 11-9 on the year.
Liberty High closed the regular season 3-17 with the loss.
Matayia Tellis had 12 points, Cora Saunders 11 and Meena Tate 10 for West High while Isabel Smith and Sam McPherson each had seven for the Lightning.
