Girls Basketball Roundup: West Branch Locks Up River Valley Conference South Division Title

For the first time ever West Branch is the River Valley Conference champion.
West Branch secured the RVC South Division title on Friday with a 63-25 win over Mid-Prairie in a south division matchup in West Branch.
Class 2A sixth-ranked West Branch improved to 17-3 on the season and 16-2 in RVC play with its fourth straight win on Friday.
With its win on Friday coupled with a West Liberty loss at Regina the Bears earned their first conference crown since 2013 when they won the now defunct Cedar Valley Conference.
Sasha Koenig led West Branch with 18 points, five assists and four steals while Taylor Thein added 14 points and two steals.
Taya Young had 10 points, six steals and four assists for the Bears and Kaiya Luneckas had six points, four rebounds and two steals.
Mid-Prairie dropped to 7-13 and 7-11 in RVC play with the loss.

Regina Upsets Class 3A No. 11 West Liberty
Annie Gahan scored 24 points as Regina upset Class 3A No. 11 West Liberty on Friday in a River Valley Conference South Division matchup in Iowa City.
Regina improved to 14-5 on the season and 13-4 in RVC play with the win that avenged a 49-38 loss to the Comets last month in West Liberty.
West Liberty dropped to 16-4 and 14-4 in conference play with its second consecutive loss.
Sam Greving had 13 points and five rebounds for Regina while Elly Gahan had four points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Claire Gaarde had 12 rebounds and three assists for the Regals.

Koch Leads West High Past CR Kennedy
Audrey Koch poured in a game-high 20 points to lead three players in double figures as West High downed Cedar Rapids Kennedy 57-38 on Friday in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division contest in Iowa City.
Cora Saunders had 12 points and Matayia Tellis added 10 as West High improved to 10-7 on the season.
Katelyn Hillberry chipped in with seven points while Liv Williams had five for the Women of Troy.
Sophia Barrett and Sadie Powell each had 10 points for Cedar Rapids Kennedy which dropped to 9-10 with the loss.
