Liberty High didn’t throw the football much over the past two seasons but when the Lightning did put the ball in the air Ben Houselog was usually in the vicinity of the pass.
On Monday Houselog announced where he would be catching passes at in the future.
The leading receiver for Liberty High in both of its seasons of varsity football, Houselog announced his commitment to Upper Iowa on Monday with a post on social media.
“First off, I would like to thank every college coach that has talked to me and taken their time recruiting me,” Houselog wrote on Twitter. “I would also like to thank my coaches and teachers for guiding me along the way. I want to thank the community of North Liberty for supporting me and my teammates night in and night out. I want to thank my teammates for pushing me everyday in practice to get better and building a brotherhood. Lastly, I would like to thank god for giving me this opportunity to play the game I love. With that being said. I am 100% committed to The University of Upper Iowa.”
In two varsity seasons Houselog caught 32 passes for 511 yards and three touchdowns.
Over the past two seasons Houselog was on the receiving end of 42 percent of the completions and 40 percent of the receiving yards for the Lightning.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Houselog had his best season last fall as a senior, catching 20 passes for 312 yards and three touchdowns while helping the Lightning to a 7-3 record and the first playoff appearance in program history.
Houselog is also a three-year letterwinner in basketball currently averaging 3.4 points per game and a state track qualifier.
