Girls Basketball Round: Monticello Stops West Branch Winning Streak

West Branch had a nine-game winning streak snapped on Monday with a 56-45 loss to Monticello on Monday in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional makeup game in Monticello.
Class 2A sixth-ranked West Branch dropped to 13-3 on the season and 12-2 in RVC play with its first loss since December 13.
Monticello improved to 12-4 on the season and 12-2 in conference play.
Taya Young had 11 points, four rebounds, two steals and two assists to lead the Bears while Sasha Koenig had nine points, five assists and three rebounds.
Taylor Thein added eight points and three steals and Kaiya Luneckas had nine rebounds for West Branch.
Gabrielle Guilford had a game-high 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Monticello while Jordan Kuper had 14 points and 14 rebounds and Gabrielle Steiner had 11 points for the Panthers.
