West High put an exclamation point on its unbeaten dual season on Tuesday with a 117-53 win over City High in the annual cross-town swimming showdown at Mercer Park Aquatic Center in Iowa City.

The Trojans won eight events on Tuesday, getting individual titles from James Pinter, Diggory Dillingham, Izaak Hajek and Kirk Brotherton and sweeping the relay titles on its way to the win.

Pinter won the 200 freestyle (1:43.58) and added a title in the 100 backstroke (52.33) and was a member of West High’s winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams.

Dillingham won the 50 freestyle in 22.37, Hajek captured the 100 butterfly title in 51.55 and Brotherton won the 100 freestyle in 49.69.

City High senior Forrest Frazier matched Pinter with a pair of individual titles winning the 200 IM in 1:55.07 and adding a title in the 100 breaststroke in 54.82.

The race of the night came in the first event in a meeting of the two fastest 200 medley relay teams in the state this season.

The West High foursome of Pinter, Jordan Christensen, Hajek and Dillingham edged City High by less than half a second with a time of 1:37.97.  

City High’s squad of Caleb Coons, Frazier, Isaac Weigel and Bryce Edens clocked a 1:37.42 to break the school record set in 1993.

City High got an individual title from Weigel in the 500 freestyle in 4:50.58 and Weigel was also runner-up in the 200 freestyle in 1:44.13.
