Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts as well as honoring those athletes that continue to excel at the next level.
David DiLeo
Former West High two-sport standout David DiLeo is closing out a stellar college basketball career at Central Michigan with his best season yet.
The 6-foot-8 senior ranks second on the team with 14.1 points and is third on the team with 4.9 rebounds per game while hooting a team-best 37 percent from 3-point range.
DiLeo has started all 89 games for the Chippewas over the past three seasons and currently ranks 10th all-time in program history with 1,394 career points.
Mary Crompton
Regina graduate Mary Crompton was named Missouri Valley Conference newcomer of the week earlier this month after helping Illinois State get off to a 2-0 start in conference play for the first time since 2013.
A redshirt freshman guard for the Redbirds, Crompton earned the honor on January 6th after averaging 13.7 points and shooting 41 percent from 3-point range in a span of three games.
Crompton is averaging 8.6 points per game this season while connecting on a team-leading 37 3-pointers.
Cooper Kabela
West Branch graduate Cooper Kabela is enjoying the best season of his collegiate career at Cornell College leading the Rams in scoring and ranking second in rebounding.
A 6-foot-5 forward, Kabela averages a team-high 17.9 points and ranks second the team with 5.5 rebounds per game.
Kabela is shooting 61 percent from the floor including 54 percent from 3-point range and 82 percent from the free throw line.
Kenya Earl
City High graduate Kenya Earl became the fifth player in Lawrence University history to score 1,000 points when she scored 15 points in a game against Illinois College earlier this month.
Earl currently ranks fourth all-time in program history with 1,111 career points.
The 5-foot-11 junior is averaging a team-high 19.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
