Boys Basketball Roundup: Clear Creek Amana Rallies For Fourth Straight Win

Clear Creek Amana kept its win streak intact on Tuesday but it wasn’t without some anxious moments.
The Clippers rallied from a 17-point halftime deficit to escape with a 70-62 overtime win over Vinton-Shellsburg on Tuesday in a WAMAC Conference West Division matchup in Vinton.
The win was the fourth straight for Clear Creek Amana and moved the Clippers to 8-3 on the season and 5-0 against West Division opponents.
Clear Creek Amana trailed 19-7 after one quarter and 33-16 at the half but used a 22-point third quarter to get back into the game.
Christian Withrow led the Clippers with 23 points and eight rebounds while Nick O’Connor added 14 points.
Mike Potter had 11 points while TJ Bollers had eight rebounds and Tyler Schrepfer had five assists.

Fourth-ranked Cedar Falls Holds Off Liberty High
Class 4A fourth-ranked Cedar Falls held off a late Liberty High rally for a 63-51 win over the Lightning in a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in Cedar Falls.
Josh Ollendieck had a game-high 19 points to lead Cedar Falls as the Tigers improved to 7-1 on the season and 5-0 in MVC play with their seventh straight win.
Liberty High dropped to 5-3 on the season and 3-3 in MVC play with the loss.
Andre Brandon led Liberty High with 15 points while Ben Houselog had 3 and Ira Hazeltine and Kelby Telander each had six.
