Wrestling Roundup: West High Tenth at 40-Team Council Bluffs Classic

Quinn Hayden and Morgan Hartz each won individual titles to help West Branch to a seventh-place team finish at the Tri-County/English Valleys Invitational on Saturday.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont won the team title with 211 points followed by English Valleys with 133 and Columbus/Winfield Mount Union with 128. West Branch was seventh with 75.
Hayden went 3-0 on this way to the 120-pound title improving to 6-0 with a first-period fall over Caydn Hall of Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in the title match.
Hartz went 3-0 while winning the 182-pound title, earning a 6-4 decision over Robert Loveless of Columbus in the title match.
Dylan Butler added a fourth-place finish for the Bears at 195 pounds.

West High Places Tenth at Council Bluffs Classic
Class 3A fourth-ranked West High had four wrestlers earn top-four finishes on its way to a 10th place team finish at the two-day, 40-team Council Bluffs Classic on Saturday in Council Bluffs.
Grant O’Dell was runner-up at 106-pounds to headline the list of top-four finishes for the Trojans as West High rolled up 262.5 points.
Liberty, Missouri won the team title with 565.5 points while Millard South was second with 480.5 and Fort Dodge was third with 468.
Hunter Garvin was third at 132 pounds while Ashton Barker was third at 170 pounds for West High.
Graham Gambrall placed fourth at 152 pounds for the Trojans and Brett Pelfrey added an eighth-place finish at 220 pounds.

City High went 2-2 and placed fifth at the Go-Hawk Title Town Duals on Saturday in Waverly.
The Little Hawks defeated Clear Creek Amana 60-20 and Clear Lake 40-33 and fell to Class 3A top-ranked Bettendorf 70-8 and Cedar Rapids Kennedy 57-21.
Clear Creek Amana went 0-4 on its way to a ninth place finish dropping matches to City High, Bettendorf 75-3, Burlington 45-23 and Newton 35-21.
