Mount Vernon outscored Clear Creek Amana 44-26 in the second half to erase a one-point halftime deficit on its way to a 69-52 win over the Clippers in a WAMAC Conference cross-divisional matchup in Tiffin.

Noah Erickson scored a game-high 20 points and Keaton Kutcher added 16 as Mount Vernon improved to 2-0 on the season.

Clear Creek Amana dropped to 0-2 with the loss and was led by Tyler Schrepfer with 16 points and Christian Withrow with 12.

Solon Drops Opener at Vinton-Shellsburg

Solon came up just short in its season opener falling to Vinton-Shellsburg 58-56 on Friday in Vinton.

Ben Cusick led Solon with 14 points while sophomore Kinnick Pusteoska added 11 for the Spartans.
