Girls Cross Country Roundup: Solon Runner-up at WAMAC Conference Meet

The Solon girls cross country team warmed up for the postseason with an impressive performance at the WAMAC Conference Meet on Thursday at Hartridge Golf Course in Manchester.
Class 3A sixth-ranked Solon had three runners place in the 11 and finished runner-up to 2A second-ranked Williamsburg with 68 points.
Williamsburg won the team title with 54 points while Center Point-Urbana was third with 82.
Junior Kiersten Conway led a trio of Spartans in the top 11, finishing fourth in 19:39.3.
Freshman Mary Fiala placed sixth in 20:02.8 for the Spartans and sophomore Emma Bock was 11th in 20:20.4.
Meghan O’Neill (22nd) and Kaia Holtkamp (25th) each added top-25 finishes for Solon.
Clear Creek Amana freshman Haidyn Barker made an impressive WAMAC meet debut finishing third in a time of 19:34.1 to help the Clippers to a seventh-place team finish with 173 points.
Center Point-Urbana senior Adrianna Katcher won the individual title in 18:48.5 while Grace Schaefer of Williamsburg was runner-up in 19:33.5.

Keeney Claims Title at MVC Valley Division Meet
For the second consecutive week Liberty High sophomore Ashlyn Keeney won a Mississippi Valley Conference title.
Keeney followed up her MVC Super Meet win last week with a divisional title on Thursday at the Dubuque Cross Country Course, winning the individual title at the MVC Valley Division meet in a time of 17:32.
Junior McKenzie Logan joined Keeney in the top five, placing fifth in 18:55 as 4A No. 15 Liberty High placed fourth with 96 points.
Third-ranked Linn-Mar won the team title with 34 points followed by No. 9 Dubuque Hempstead with 58 and 3A No. 2 Dubuque Wahlert with 68.
No. 13 West High got an eighth-place finish from Maddy Negley and placed fifth with 99 points.
Keeney won the individual title by 32 seconds over runner-up Micah Poellet of Linn-Mar after winning the Super Meet title by 51 seconds over Poellet last week.
Cam Mac placed 22nd for Liberty High in a time of 20:12.
Camden Zirker was 19th in 20:07 and Annie Schwartz was 21st in 20:11 for West High.
